Gain substantial experience throughout media including video, photography, installation, printmaking, portray, drawing and sculpture, with the choice to pursue further research areas. This course introduces the assorted conventional and up to date plate-making techniques and the printing course of used to create an intaglio print. Students will discover each hand techniques such as drypoint, engraving and mezzotint; as well as etching techniques, together with line etching, delicate ground, aquatint, and spitbite. Collagraphs and/or Solarplates are also introduced as various plate-making methods. Technical features of printing embody viscosity printing, registration, and edition printing for sophistication portfolio projects. While learning to employ the varied intaglio techniques, college students discover their creative process, including the self-discipline of preserving a sketchbook, as they develop and refine concepts and composition in projects that emphasize private imagery and narratives.

university of artThe University of New Haven has achieved the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD) accreditation. This mark of excellence designates the University’s B.A.

in Art and B.F.A. packages in Graphic Design, Illustration, and Interior Design as nationally accredited packages. The course covers basic ideas and parts of design in relation to line, shade, composition, house, worth, and visible statement, and how these relate to the fields of art and design in general. An emphasis shall be placed on interdisciplinary studying, collaborative projects, and incorporate historic, cultural, and international points of view. After commencement, most students go on to work in fine artwork as practising artists, academics and artwork writers, or as curators in private and non-private galleries and for arts councils and organisations. Many additionally pursue careers in academia, architecture and the film trade.

The university hosts over 500 events every year and is a key cultural venue within the city. Students present their work to the general public in exhibitions, concerts, dramatic productions, evenings of song, readings, and lectures.

Alongside this, workshops and projects designed to introduce a range of strategies and approaches are provided throughout the 12 months. In addition, students attend taught practical courses in drawing and human anatomy as well as lectures, seminars and tutorials in artwork history. Experimentation is highly inspired.
