What are the Cultural Arts?

A group of western artists as helpful with a horse as they have been with a paintbrush—Joe Beeler, George Phippen and pards—shaped Cowboy Artists of America in an area saloon over cold beers in 1965. One centered vision of culture is what is known as “high tradition.” Such a focus includes music, nice arts and sculpture, ballet, drama (now together with artistically crafted movies), poetry and prose fiction—all of which exhibit significant human values and perception into the human condition. “High tradition” is so known as because of the historical incontrovertible fact that solely those of high class had entry to those so known as refined arts. While we still retain the expression “excessive culture,” these artwork forms at the moment are obtainable to whomever needs to pursue them.

School of Fine Art, History of Art and Cultural Studies

university of artThe University of New Haven has achieved the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD) accreditation. This mark of excellence designates the University’s B.A.

in Art and B.F.A. packages in Graphic Design, Illustration, and Interior Design as nationally accredited packages. The course covers basic ideas and parts of design in relation to line, shade, composition, house, worth, and visible statement, and how these relate to the fields of art and design in general. An emphasis shall be placed on interdisciplinary studying, collaborative projects, and incorporate historic, cultural, and international points of view. After commencement, most students go on to work in fine artwork as practising artists, academics and artwork writers, or as curators in private and non-private galleries and for arts councils and organisations. Many additionally pursue careers in academia, architecture and the film trade.

The university hosts over 500 events every year and is a key cultural venue within the city. Students present their work to the general public in exhibitions, concerts, dramatic productions, evenings of song, readings, and lectures.

Alongside this, workshops and projects designed to introduce a range of strategies and approaches are provided throughout the 12 months. In addition, students attend taught practical courses in drawing and human anatomy as well as lectures, seminars and tutorials in artwork history. Experimentation is highly inspired.
